Veneer
Mosaics
Veneer Mosaics are made from
Wisconsin hardwood veneers. These
veneers are carefully colored through a special process which does not mask the
grain. The process allows the veneer to
be colored to virtually any hue, no matter how intense or subtle. The colored veneers have a brightness and
life that is unique to this media.
The Veneers are applied to a
hardboard panel, using both overlay and inlay techniques which gives the
finished work a sculptural feel. The
completed panels can be displayed as is, or framed. Many pieces are custom framed by Mark using local woods that are
embellished with leather, metal, horn,
or stone, etc.
Mark's Mosaics are truly unique. The
natural beauty of the woods combined with an unusual depth of color make for a
work of art that is truly one of a kind.
Mark Jacobson has worked as an
artist for over thirty years and has now come up with a new art form. He
creates gorgeous designs by coloring the veneer to fit the design. Most of the
veneer is cherry or birch and the amazing thing is that the grain of the veneer
comes through using the coloring system Mark has devised.
